Historical and current editions, each preserved as its source published it.
For students & families
See past the rank to the right fit.
One league table gives a position. This connects reputation, research scale, citation impact, subject strength, and web visibility—so you can shortlist by what you want to study and where, not by a single number.

What the archive suggests
Three signals worth investigating.
These are prompts for deeper comparison—not causal claims. Each card links a pattern to the source that produced it.
China’s represented Nature Index Share expanded sharply.
Across the published academic table, Share moved from 4,866.1 in 2015 output to 40,572.5 in 2025 output. Journal-set and coverage changes mean this is directional, not a pure growth rate.
Inspect the country shift →Harvard University appears at the top across methods.
The leading signal averages within-table percentiles across six broad publisher rankings. The top five all have evidence from every included source.
Compare provider evidence →China institutions lead most Nature subject views.
Overall strength hides specialization. Biology and health point to different leaders than chemistry, applied science, or the physical sciences.
Open the subject lens →Consensus, not certainty
Where independent broad rankings overlap.
Institutions must appear in at least four of six latest broad editions. The score is the mean within-table percentile, so it measures agreement—not educational fit.

Global footprint
Top-100 placements remain concentrated.
Count of institutions placed at rank 100 or better across the six broad publisher tables. One institution can contribute once per provider.
Coverage map
Every lens defines “best” differently.
Time depth and subject coverage vary by source. Long bars show each ranking’s historical continuity across editions.
From ranking to decision
Use the data as a funnel, not a verdict.
Shortlist on durable signal
Look for repeated strength across methods and years, not a one-edition jump.
